Almost anticlimactic

Compared to yesterday's near train-wreck on hook up, today's run was practically anticlimactic. I asked Jeff, our handler, to help me by keeping an eye on Aumaruq during hook-up, and then holding my leaders until I could get the team launched.  The difference between the two runs was like the difference between snow and dirt.

My team for today consisted of;
Orion and Cassiopeia in lead
Beau and Midnight's Son in swing
Rose and Nels in team
Aumaruq and Seaums in wheel.

This team went further than we've previously gone this season, maintained a faster average speed than during our recent runs, and were as well behaved as one could possibly ask.  I asked them to take a different trail than our usual route out to the ponds and back, and then had them do a loop toward the end to increase the mileage a little bit.  This required them to do some gee-haw work that was different than they've done this season, and they responded to the changes like champs.

These dogs are clearly ready for some longer runs.  We'll have to see how the other dogs are doing tomorrow, when we change out teams and try this game again.

Here is a map of the five most recent runs we've done.  It can give you an idea of the terrain over which we've been training.  You can click on the image to see it in a larger size.
