Happy Tuesday

For me, every fourth Tuesday qualifies as HAPPY TUESDAY.  After two weeks working at a remote industrial site, it is "going home day".  I'll finish this tour of duty about 8:30 this morning, and then head back to my "real" life, going home to my dogs. 

I have reason to suspect it won't be entirely a happy day, I have some unpleasant business to attend to, but that's just life and life moves on. 

For mushers in the Yukon Quest, I imagine it's a bit of a mixed bag as well.  Allen Moore, Hugh Neff, Brent Sass and Jake Berkowitz are no doubt enjoying a happy Tuesday, basking in the successes of their endeavors, or perhaps still dreaming of the long trail as they catch up on badly needed sleep.  Scott Smith, currently making his way to town from the Two Rivers checkpoint and only a few miles out of the Golden Heart City will no doubt be happy today for having completed the race and earning the title of Rookie of the Year. 

Markus Ingebretsen, Normand Casavant, Abbie West and Susan Rogan are all at the Two Rivers checkpoint, serving their mandatory 8 hour lay-over and they will no doubt enjoy their trip through our community and over the river during what promises to be a beautiful, mild day.  Rounding out the top 10 positions, Dan Kaduce is on the trail between Mile 101 and Two Rivers.

There is a nice article about Brent Sass and Jake Berkowitz in today's issue of the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner in which Brent talks about his 2 year old leaders, Celia and Sound.  Followers will recall that our new pup Dozer is the son of Sound and Brent's famous, now retired lead dog, Silver. 

Speaking of Dozer, I think he will be getting a new name during this coming R&R.  Once I'm certain he likes it, I'll share it here on the Blog.  That will probably be a few days coming, though.

I'll be keeping you up-to-date on happenings on the Quest trail, but probably not so frequently as I have thus far.  I have other things to occupy my time while I'm home so can't put quite so much effort into blogging.  I'll do my best to keep you informed of the various happenings both on the trail, and at the Stardancer Historical Sled Dogs kennel.
